In May, 1997, Air Nostrum signed a renewable franchise agreement with the Iberia Group for an initial period of 5 years, agreement that has been renewed since then.

As a result, it became an active part of the Iberia Group, its flights being commercialised by Iberia, Spain’s leading national and international airline. The signing of this franchise agreement not only provided Air Nostrum with a sizeable increase in its number of connection passengers, but also provided Iberia with a passageway to its major air traffic distribution centre: Madrid-Barajas Airport Terminal, T4.

Air Nostrum’s flight timetable is designed to enable passengers to connect with the Iberia Group’s worldwide flight network offering connecting flights to 150 Iberia Group and 220 flight code share destinations.

As of 1st September, 1999, Air Nostrum received access to the oneworld Airline Alliance. As a member of the Iberia Group, it automatically became an affiliate member of one of the aviation sector’s premier aviation alliances with right of entry to one of the world’s largest flight networks.

As part of the oneworld alliance, Air Nostrum is able to offer its passengers a choice of nearly 1,000 destinations operated by oneworld members whose combined commercial aviation fleet comprises some 2,700 aircraft. Alliance members include Iberia, British Airways, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Fiji Airways, Finnair, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Oman Air, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian y SriLankan Airlines.

The oneworld member flight network operates in 150 countries and provides flights for over 500 million annual passengers.

Air Nostrum has benefitted greatly from its association with the oneworld alliance enabling the company to increase its number of passengers, reduce its costs by sharing resources with other members, access new markets and increase its strength in markets in which it was already a leader.
