This new route will allow connections to the three Balearic airports from just €49 each way when purchasing a round trip ticket.
Air Nostrum is the only airline that flies from the five main airports of Catalonia: Barcelona, Girona, Reus, Lleida, and La Seu d'Andorra.
VALENCIA, MARCH 25, 2026
Air Nostrum, Iberia's regional franchise airline, will connect Girona and Mallorca this summer from July 2 to August 30. A total of 32 flights will operate during the summer season, offering passengers 2,304 seats.
This route was presented today at a press conference held at the Girona Provincial Council (Diputació de Girona) with representatives from the institution, the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya), the Girona Chamber of Commerce (Cambra de Comerç de Girona), and Air Nostrum in attendance. Presenting the new route were Miquel Noguer i Planas, President of the Girona Provincial Council; Manel Nadal i Farreras, Secretary of Mobility and Infrastructure for the Government of Catalonia; Jaume Fàbrega Vilà, President of the Girona Chamber of Commerce; and Juan Corral, Commercial Director of Air Nostrum.
The route is part of the new GROwing brand strategy created by the Girona Provincial Council, the Government of Catalonia, and the Girona Chamber of Commerce to diversify and attract new airlines that will improve connectivity from Girona. Mallorca will be the only domestic route operated from Girona, representing a significant milestone for the quality development of Girona Airport.
The route will have two weekly flights, although during the first two weeks of operation in July, flights will only operate on Thursdays. Starting Sunday, July 19th, a second daily flight will be added until August 30th, allowing for weekend travel between Girona and Mallorca. On Thursdays, the flight will depart from Mallorca at 9:45 a.m. and depart from Girona Airport at 11:45 a.m. On Sundays, the flight will depart from Son Sant Joan Airport at 12:30 p.m. and return from Girona Airport at 2:30 p.m.
The flights will be operated with an ATR-72-600 aircraft, offering 2,304 seats across the 32 scheduled flights. Importantly, these flights will also connect Mallorca to the other two Balearic airports, Ibiza and Menorca.
Prices will start from €49 each way for round-trip journeys. Just as Air Nostrum offers on its other routes between the mainland and Mallorca, connections from Mallorca to Ibiza and Menorca will be included in the fare, meaning they will also start from €49 each way to/from Ibiza and Menorca via Palma de Mallorca.
This will be the first time Air Nostrum has scheduled this route as a regular service. This past winter, the airline operated six special flights between Girona and Mallorca for the Imserso program (a government-run travel program for seniors).
The president of the Girona Provincial Council, Miquel Noguer, expressed his satisfaction with the reestablishment of the connection to Palma, which had not been operating since 2015: “If this route is successful, and I am convinced it will be, the intention is for it to continue beyond these summer months. We have been working for some time to improve Girona's connectivity and increase the number of passengers, especially during the off-season. Today's presentation confirms that we are making progress and are on the right track.”
Manel Nadal i Farreras, Secretary of Mobility and Infrastructure for the Catalan Government, said: “It is important that, from Girona, we also have connecting flights to Palma and various destinations on the Iberian Peninsula. This way, we diversify the airlines and destinations, and respond to a clear demand from the tourism sector. We have an opportunity that we must seize. Air Nostrum is committed to Girona and Catalonia, and we must contribute to making this flight a success and ensuring it can be maintained throughout the year.”
“These flights, which we all hope will have high occupancy, can help consolidate a connection that has great potential for both tourism and businesses in both regions,” noted Jaume Fàbrega, President of the Girona Chamber of Commerce.
For his part, Juan Corral stated: “With this flight, Air Nostrum demonstrates its strong commitment to Catalonia, as we are the only airline operating at all five of Catalonia's main airports. We also reaffirm our commitment to connectivity in the Balearic Islands, since a single ticket allows passengers to fly from Girona to all three airports in the archipelago.”
Committed to Catalonia
With the arrival of this summer route from Girona, Air Nostrum becomes the only airline with connections to all five of Catalonia's main airports.
Throughout the year, from Barcelona, Air Nostrum flies to Badajoz, León, Almería, Melilla, Mallorca, Salamanca, Strasbourg, and Valencia. From Lleida, there are connections to all three Balearic airports, with the route to Mallorca.
